Guangdong Guangshe Supports Earthquake Relief in Myanmar with Swift Installation of Prefabricated Housing Units

Mandalay, Myanmar – May 17, 2025

Guangdong Guangshe Construction Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese manufacturer of prefabricated housing solutions, has been actively involved in Myanmar’s post-earthquake recovery efforts, delivering and installing emergency shelter units to displaced communities in collaboration with the Chinese government’s humanitarian aid program. Following the devastating 7.9-magnitude earthquake that struck central Myanmar on March 28, 2025, Guangshe’s team has worked tirelessly to ensure rapid deployment of durable, weather-resistant housing for affected families.  

On-Site Installation: Efficiency Meets Expertise
Accompanied by vivid photographs of the installation process, Guangshe’s engineers and local Myanmar workers are seen assembling the steel-framed structures in Mandalay, one of the hardest-hit regions. The installation follows a systematic approach:  
1. Foundation Preparation: Workers first conduct ground hardness tests and pour concrete foundations, ensuring a level base with minimal error margins.  
2. Structural Assembly: Steel columns and beams are erected using bolted connections, followed by roof trusses and wall panels. The team prioritizes seismic resilience, with reinforced joints to withstand aftershocks.  
3. Weatherproofing: Critical attention is given to sealing roof seams and window frames with silicone caulking to prevent leaks—a common challenge in tropical climates.  
4. Quality Checks: Final inspections ensure compliance with safety standards, including fire resistance and ventilation systems.  

Collaborative Efforts and Local Empowerment
Guangshe’s project aligns with China’s broader commitment to provide 1,000 prefabricated units to Myanmar, including 500 office modules and 500 residential units shipped in three batches from Dongguan Port. The company has also trained Myanmar workers in assembly techniques, echoing China’s 2013 initiative to transfer modular construction skills to local communities.

Humanitarian Impact and Future Plans
The units, designed for quick deployment and reusability, offer insulated walls, electrical wiring, and partitioned interiors—features praised by Myanmar’s Ministry of Construction for their practicality. Guangshe’s efforts complement the Chinese Red Cross’s earlier delivery of tents and medical supplies, forming a multi-faceted relief strategy.
